The sheer range of thematic motifs on display - Those Chosen By the Planet, Shinra's Theme, Aerith's Theme, the Opening/Lifestream melody, and the Main Theme of FFVII - would be a real showcase for the concert. Again, if they include some non-traditional orchestration instruments in there, a pipe organ would work wonders for those Toccata-esque sections.ĭestiny's Crossroads - An unfortunate no-show on the official OST, this pivotal cutscene toward the end of the game seems like a perfect showcase for the orchestra. Hell House - I think this would make for one hell (heh) of a showstopper piece, and is practically begging for the orchestrated treatment.
With Yosh originally planning to be in attendance for a few of the shows, I wonder if he would have graced us with vocal performances? Hollow/Hollow Skies - I would love a fully orchestrated rendition of Hollow - or, barring that, perhaps they can add an acoustic guitar accompaniment, much how like they did FFIX's Vamo alla Flamenco for Distant Worlds. Maybe they can even make it into a suite with the Arbiter of Fate trio of tracks. Whispers' Theme - They'd want to spotlight some of the brand new pieces exclusively composed for Remake, and the Whispers seems like an obvious choice. A combination of a Merc's Job, Crab Warden, and Operation: Save Aerith would be fire. Let the Battles Begin! - A suite format would work best here, integrating the best bits from the multiple renditions featured on the OST.
The live choir punctuating specific sections of the piece would sound amazing. Scorpion Sentinel - While I suspect that Airbuster would be the preferred fan choice, I think Scorpion Sentinel would be better suited for the orchestrated treatment. At four and half minutes, I wouldn't mind this piece as a standalone - no real need to retread Bombing Mission. Midgar, City of Mako - It's true they've covered the Opening ~ Bombing Mission in several previous shows already, but this new arrangement featuring the OWA/Those Chosen By the Planet motif and strains of the Main Theme of FFVII would make this the perfect opening salvo for the show. While it's almost a given that legacy pieces such as the Main Theme of FFVII, Aerith's Theme, Tifa's Theme, and One-Winged Angel will make appearances in some form or another, I was thinking which tracks could be featured that will make this unique to "Remake" and stand out from other Final Fantasy concerts that's already featured FFVII songs? So with the tour effectively delayed till next year, I've begun to ruminate which tracks would have made up the potential set list.
